Description

How I made Kate the fembot.

I started by blurring all the skin. I removed any imperfections and human identifying marks (such as the belly button) with the clone tool, and using a combination of Smart, Gaussian, and Motion blurs I blurred her skin until it looked smooth and plastic-y. I also cleaned up a lot of the edges so she looked crisp.

Then I created her robot "seams" with a pen tool, stroked them with a 2 pixel wide hard brush and set the layer to Linear Burn and 20% fill. I added an emboss layer style, created layers, and faded the embossing until it looked natural. I decided robot lips should be gray and her eyes black. I also rounded her shoulders a little.

Lastly, I adjust the color and add the glare. The glare is what really sells it, in my opinion.
